The residue of pre-conceived forms is obtained when the alchemist is placed under stable pressure in an athanor. In this way, old ideas and limitations can be separated and eliminated so that a transformation occurs in consciousness, symbolized by the lead transmuted into gold, or the charcoal submitted to geological proportions of stress, being endured and purified into a perfect and impenetrable diamond. This path of purification leads to the vision of the peacock’s tale (cauda pavonis), an explosion of colors, inspiration and new ideas, also expressed as the rising of vital energy (kundalini) in the body. Being dazzled by such experience, we can only learn self-control and discipline, thus turning this initial euphoria into a pure, aware, connected and receptive state of being, now able to discern what’s useful for our own evolution. In alchemy, this process describes the transition from Nigredo to Albedo. The same way we navigate inside ourselves to find communion, we also express that externally. So then, longing for cosmic connection, we depart on a journey to find our space brothers. Ad astra!
